Description
Croft Circuit is a motor racing circuit located near Dalton-on-Tees in North Yorkshire, England. The tarmac circuit is just over 2 miles (3 km) long and is based on the lands of an airfield, but has long since moved on from being a basic airfield circuit. The circuit holds meetings of the British Touring Car Championship, British Rallycross and Pickup Truck Racing race series. The first records of racing at Croft date back to the 1920s, but it was after the Second World War that Croft circuit became a significant motorsport venue.
Circuit Biography
Close to the urban centres of Darlington, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and York, Croft Circuit brings the BTCC to the northeast of England and thousands of passionate race fans. Though a relatively recent returnee to the BTCC calendar in the late nineties, the 2.1-mile circuit has been developed for over 50 years into a top-flight racing venue.
Coming just before the ‘summer break’, Croft is always a pivotal round as teams seek to pull out an advantage over their rivals before mid-season testing commences. Traditionally a track that favours rear-wheel drive machinery, the North Yorkshire venue is renowned for its challenging, technical nature. Indeed, it is often regarded as the truest all-round test on the BTCC calendar.

Race 1
Ashley Sutton followed up his pole position from Saturday with victory in the opening BTCC race of the weekend at Croft. Subaru scored a one-two finish in the first race as Sutton and team-mate Jason Plato fended off their rivals..

Race 2
BMR's Ashley Sutton made it back-to-back wins in the second British Touring Car Championship race of the weekend at Croft. The defending champion repeated his success from the opening race with a measured drive that saw him lead the majority of the 15 laps, bringing him to within 50 points of the championship lead.
Despite carrying maximum ballast on his car, Sutton was able to start edging away from Ingram behind as the Toyota driver had to contend with pressure from Colin Turkington behind.
It meant a relatively straightforward second win of the day for the defending champion; the first driver to achieve the feat this season.

Race 3
Dan Lloyd secured his maiden victory in the BTCC with a fine lights-to-flag drive in the final race of the weekend at Croft.
Lloyd was drawn on pole having finished race two in ninth spot and made the perfect start to lead the field into Clervaux for the first time, with a fast-starting Tom Chilton moving into second spot.
After his strong start, Chilton would run in second throughout but couldn’t match Lloyd for pace, instead being forced to drive with one eye in his mirrors in the closing stages after Senna Proctor closed in behind.
As it was however, the top three drivers would end the race as they had ended lap one, with the focus instead falling on the battle for fourth behind. It meant a first win for the Yorkshire racer at his home circuit and also a first win for the BTC Norlin just two weeks after both of its cars were heavily damaged in the start-line accident at Oulton Park.
