One good trick is to make the source image high and thin, this will allow you to get the good resolution of 700 pixels without having to pay anything on those websites

@hubflyer I noticed a small white halo around some of your uploads, nothing too bad though. The quality is fine as far as I can tell.

If you have gimp or photoshop then you can magic select the image and "grow the selection" by 1 or 2 pixels then press delete to remove it.

Hi HubFlyer, sorry an explanation would help.
As Zag pointed out, on the thumbnails there is a small white halo around the images, when enlarging the image to 700*700 it shows up on a white background so it looks fine, but the same image on a dark background shows up the white surround a lot more.
Using one of the suggested removal sites is quick, free, and gives you a decent image.
Added a tempory thumb image here, if you enlarge will show what i mean. (a picture sometimes explains more). will replace later.
