Thomas Lüthi (born 6 September 1986) is a professional motorcycle road racer currently competing in the MotoGP Grand Prix World Championship. For 2019, he will ride for Dynavolt Intact GP in the Moto2 category.
Tom began riding a pocket bike at an early age and kicked off his career at the age of nine when he competed in his first race. In 2002, at the age of 16 he finished third in the IDM and second in the European Championship.
He entered the World Championship with a higlight, taking second place in Catalonia. Lüthi scored his first Grand Prix victory in the motorcycle world championship at the 2005 French Grand Prix in Le Mans. On 6 November 2005 Lüthi won the world championship title in the 125cc class in Valencia, on a Honda. He became the sixth-youngest world champion in history.
In 2018 the Swiss motorcycle racer ascended to the MotoGP World Championship and thus started in the top tier on a Honda RC213V. The season, however, turned out to be more challenging than expected, not least because of a long break during the 2017/2018 winter season due to an injury, which meant insufficient preparation time. The Bern native keeps on fighting and after the difficult MotoGP season, he once again secures a starting position in the Moto2 class, where he plans battling his way back to the top in the 2019 season with the Dynavolt Intact GP team on a Kalex.
