We now have an instant automated API application form.

https://www.thesportsdb.com/api_apply.php

Developers may use the "1" API key when building the app, you do not need a separate key until you actually release something in public

Commercial software and larger users are expected to join our patreon campaign. https://www.patreon.com/thedatadb

I'm trying to get an API key for an API visualization assignment in school.
How would I go about that, please?

For school projects just use the "1" development key.

what are you allowed to do without the API or '1' key?

for example, can you just use the links such as: https://www.thesportsdb.com/api/v1/json ... ?id=441613

and display the results on your own (personal, non-commercial) site?

The "1" is a test API key so can be used in your application as long as its non-commercial. It doesn't include livescores and video functionality.

Hello,

I would like to apply for an API Key to obtain more information.

Application name: funSports.
Public or personal? : For the public in the iOS App Store for the beginning.
Approximate users? : Under development, but I intend to reach 6000 in 1 year.
Open source or commercial code ?:Open source.
What does my application do? : It is only used for schedule display and post-match results and scores. At the same time, I will add some sports news to serve fans who are too lazy to open a browser to view the information.

You can send the Api Key to my email:

[email protected]

Thanks a lot.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Jack Dawson

Sorry we only support Patreon full keys these days.

Free features are included in the test key.

I am perplexed. I tried using the proposed API from the website:
https://www.thesportsdb.com/api/v1/json/3/searchteams.php?t=Bayern%20Munich

but it always returns only one team, Arsenal. So I am not sure this is working.

So is this API available for testing for free or not? Or is there a bug with API?

Yes its free, but only some features.

Sadly we had to change that method to restricted after 10's of millions of hits affecting the sites overall performance.
