Nicholas Laurence Joseph Browne (born 24 March 1991) is an English cricketer who plays for Essex as a left-handed batsman who bowls leg breaks.
Nick Browne cemented his place in the Essex side in 2014 averaging 54.16, with a top score of 132*. He went on to win the 2014 First XI Young Player of the Year award.
He became the first player since Ravi Bopara in 2008 to score 1,000 runs in the County Championship season for Essex, when his 151* against Leicestershire in 2015 took him past the landmark.
He once again made 1,000 runs at a healthy average of 47, boosted by a career-best 255 against Derbyshire, one of two doubles he made against them that promotion season. Indeed, double centuries became something of a speciality – he made it three doubles in a row the following summer, this time against Middlesex at Chelmsford, joining Alastair Cook in an Essex record opening stand of 373.
The left-hander was integral part of the County Championship success in 2017, scoring over 1000 first-class runs again for the Club. He will hope his continued form in 2018 will lead him to the International recognition that is arguably deserved.
