Tiago Cardoso Mendes (born 2 May 1981), known simply as Tiago (Portuguese pronunciation: [tiˈaɣu kɐɾˈdozu ˈmẽdɨʃ]), is a Portuguese professional footballer who plays for Spanish club Atlético Madrid.

A versatile midfielder, adept as both a central or defensive unit and with good overall skills, he has played in England, France, Italy and Spain. He notably spent four seasons with Atlético Madrid, winning five major titles including the 2014 national championship and the 2012 Europa League.

A Portuguese international on over 60 occasions, Tiago represented the nation in two World Cups and Euro 2004.
