Daniel Whitehead (born 23 October 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for National League club AFC Fylde.
Whitehead started his career with Stockport County before joining West Ham United for an undisclosed fee on 20 June 2013. He made his official debut on 5 January 2014 for West Ham against Nottingham Forest at The City Ground in the FA Cup. West Ham lost the game 5–0. This was his only game for West Ham, his contract being terminated on 28 January 2015. On 17 March 2015, Whitehead signed a short-term contract for Accrington Stanley.
After a successful trial period he signed a one-year deal with Macclesfield Town for the Vanarama 2015/16 National League season. He scored his first for the club on 29 August 2015, an opening goal in the 1–2 defeat against Chester, a second half strike on 53 minutes after poor defending allowed Danny Rowe to win possession and a cross that rebounded to Whitehead who smashed a shot from the edge of the area into the bottom right corner of the net. On 6 October 2015, Whitehead scored the 2nd goal in the 44th minute in the 0–3 away victory against Guiseley, a right footed long-ranged shot which bounced and skidded past the keeper. Whitehead scored the opening goal in the 4th minute of the 2–1 away defeat to Dover, goalkeeper Mitch Walker having fumbled a light shot from Kristian Dennis which came to Whitehead who tapped a left footed shot home.
It was confirmed on the 8th January 2016 that Whitehead had signed a two-and-a-half year deal with League One side Wigan Athletic for an undisclosed fee, but would be loaned back to Macclesfield for the remainder of the 2015/16 season. In July 2016 Whitehead joined Cheltenham Town on a season long loan.
