Sydney-born and Canberra-raised Behrendorff made the switch to WA ahead of the 2009-10 season. Behrendorff has emerged as a genuine Australia prospect, winning the Domestic Player of the Year in 2015, as well as being voted the BBL|05 Player of the Year.
Behrendorff broke through for WA in November 2011, taking 4-76 on his Sheffield Shield debut against Victoria, before winning the state's Future Legend award for the 2011-12 season. Behrendorff continued to develop during the 2012-13 campaign and emerged as a key member of the Perth Scorchers side in BBL|02, with his ability to take key wickets and remain economical in the power play.
