Varun Chopra (born 21 June 1987) is an English former cricketer who captained the English U-19 cricket team in series against Sri Lanka in 2005 and India in 2006. Chopra attended Ilford County High School and played for Ilford Cricket Club. In September 2021, Chopra announced his retirement from cricket.
The right-hander continues to be more effective in white-ball cricket, as his expansive game at the top of the order can exploit any fielding restrictions. In 2017, Chopra scored two hundreds in the NatWest T20 Blast, unfortunately both were in losing causes. He also excelled opening in the One-Day Cup, and averaged 38 to help the Eagles reach the semi-final stage of the competition. The opener will be integral to any success for his Home County in white-ball competitions moving forward.
