Billy R. Hamilton (born September 9, 1990) is an American professional baseball center fielder who is a free agent. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Atlanta Braves, New York Mets, Chicago Cubs, Chicago White Sox, Miami Marlins and Minnesota Twins.
The Reds selected Hamilton in the second round of the 2009 Major League Baseball draft, and he made his MLB debut in 2013.
He played for the Cincinnati Reds from 2013 through 2018.
Hamilton holds the Minor League Baseball single-season stolen base record with 155 steals—10 higher than the previous Minor League record set by Vince Coleman and 25 more than Rickey Henderson's record set on the Major League level. He also holds the Cincinnati Reds record for most stolen bases by a rookie in a season. On December 11, 2018, Hamilton signed a one-year $5.25 million contract.
Hamilton made his MLB debut September 3, 2013, for the Cincinnati Reds.
On February 7, 2020, Hamilton signed a minor league deal with the San Francisco Giants.[
