Jamie Andrews (born 19 September 2002) is an English professional footballer who plays as a central midfielder for National League club Woking.
Andrews started for Albion in their Emirates FA Cup third-round replay against Chesterfield at The Hawthorns, and the midfielder will be keen to gain more senior minutes in B71 after getting a taste of it in England's oldest cup competition.
Jamie spent the end of 2022 on loan at fifth-tier side Yeovil Town, after experiencing his first loan spell in senior football with National League North side Leamington FC during the 2021/22 campaign.
The central midfielder added another important string to his bow under Richard Beale at the start of the 2022/23 season. Andrews stepped up to skippering the Baggies' PL2 side in the absence of Caleb Taylor, a role in which he excelled in - helping Albion's youngsters string together an impressive run of results in the Premier League 2 Division 2 prior to heading down to Somerset in October 2022.
After signing his first professional contract during the summer of 2021, Jamie featured regularly for Albion's PL2 side in the middle of the park and his wide range of passing earned him a move to non-league outfit Leamington where he made three appearances during a month's loan spell in December 2021.
Andrews was also an important figure in Albion's PL Cup triumph in May 2022. Jamie netted four goals for Richard Beale's men on their road to the final, including an eye-catching strike in the 4-3 quarter-final win against Derby County. And the midfielder was reliable from the spot under the lights at The Hawthorns, scoring his spot-kick to help the Baggies beat Wolves in the final and lift the trophy.
Born locally, Andrews’ mentality has carried him through a tough period of his early career with the Baggies.
At just 17-years-old and during the first year of his scholarship with Albion, doctors discovered fluid on Jamie’s spinal cord which affected his balance and day-to-day life. The neurological damage meant there was no set-time frame for recovery, creating several tough moments for Andrews as he missed football during a vital part of his early development in the game.
Andrews’ last game of the 2019/20 season for the youth side came in February 2020, and his next appearance for the 18s came in December the same year. But the attacking-midfielder showed his battling character to firmly force himself back into the mix in Peter Gilbert’s squad.
Jamie came on as a first-half substitute during Albion’s FA Youth Cup clash with Spurs and made an instant difference. He drew a foul from a Tottenham defender in a dangerous position which forced the referee to reduce Tottenham to 10 men, helping swing the game in his side’s favour before netting the fourth goal in a 5-0 triumph.
