Il Liverpool Football Club, o noto più comunemente solo come Liverpool, è una società calcistica inglese con sede a Liverpool; milita nella Premier League, della quale è stata uno dei fondatori, ed è affiliato alla Football Association.
Fondato nel 1892, aderì un anno dopo alla Football League e dalla sua fondazione disputa le partite interne nello stadio di Anfield. Negli anni '70 e '80 del XX secolo si affermò come una delle squadre egemoni del calcio europeo, sotto la guida degli allenatori Bill Shankly e Bob Paisley. Gioca in tenuta rossa dal 1964, dopo aver utilizzato maglia rossa e calzoncini bianchi. Milita nella massima serie inglese dal 1962.
Con 64 trofei ufficiali è la seconda squadra più titolata d'Inghilterra, alle spalle del Manchester United, e uno dei club più titolati del mondo. A livello nazionale il club si è aggiudicato 19 campionati, 7 Coppe d'Inghilterra, 8 Coppe di Lega (record), 15 (di cui 5 condivise) Supercoppe d'Inghilterra e 1 Supercoppa di lega inglese (trofeo disputato nella stagione 1985-86, prima annata dell'esclusione dei club inglesi dalle coppe europee post-Heysel, dalle squadre inglesi qualificatesi per le competizioni UEFA di quella stagione). A livello internazionale ha vinto 6 Coppe dei Campioni/Champions League, 3 Coppe UEFA, 4 Supercoppe europee (tutti e tre record inglesi), 1 Coppa del mondo per club FIFA, trofei grazie ai quali risulta il primo club inglese per titoli internazionali vinti, davanti al Manchester United.
Il Liverpool fu coinvolto in due delle pagine più funeste della storia del calcio europeo: il 29 maggio 1985 a Bruxelles (Belgio), quando 39 persone rimasero uccise negli incidenti allo stadio Heysel causati dagli hooligan inglesi prima della finale di Coppa dei Campioni con la Juventus,[1] e il 15 aprile 1989 a Sheffield, quando 96 persone morirono nella calca per entrare allo stadio Hillsborough prima di una semifinale di Coppa d'Inghilterra con il Nottingham Forest.
Il Liverpool è stato membro fondatore del G-14, associazione di club calcistici europei consorziatisi per ottenere una tutela comune dei diritti sportivi, legali e televisivi di fronte all'UEFA e alla FIFA.

Anfield is a football stadium in Anfield, Liverpool, England which has a seating capacity of 45,276 making it the seventh largest football stadium in England. It has been the home of Liverpool F.C. since their formation in 1892. It was originally the home of Everton F.C. from 1884 to 1891, before they moved to Goodison Park after a dispute over rent.
The stadium has four stands: the Spion Kop, Main Stand, Centenary Stand and Anfield Road. The record attendance of 61,905, was set at a match between Liverpool and Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1952. The ground converted to an all-seater stadium in 1994 as a result of the Taylor Report which greatly reduced its capacity.
Two gates at the ground are named after former Liverpool managers: Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley. A statue of Shankly is situated outside the stadium. The ground is 2 miles (3 km) from Liverpool Lime Street railway station.
It was proposed in 2002 to replace the stadium with a new one in the adjacent Stanley Park, but after the acquisition of Liverpool F.C. by Fenway Sports Group in 2010 it was made clear this would not happen.
Construction for an extension to the Main Stand began on Monday, December 8th, 2014. This will increase the stadium size to around 55,000.
