Il West Ham United Football Club, meglio noto come West Ham United, o più semplicemente come West Ham, è una società calcistica inglese con sede nel distretto londinese di Newham, più precisamente nel quartiere di Stratford, dove fu fondato nel 1895 come Thames Iron Workers Football Club, prima di assumere l'attuale denominazione nel 1900 in ricordo del toponimo di uno dei due borghi (West Ham e East Ham) uniti nel nuovo Newham. Attualmente milita in Premier League, la massima divisione del campionato inglese di calcio.
I giocatori e i sostenitori del club sono soprannominati Hammers (Martelli) per via della presenza di una coppia di tali utensili nel logo della squadra. Il club è spesso chiamato The academy of football (L'accademia del calcio) per via della grande tradizione e qualità del suo settore giovanile, ma i tifosi preferiscono riferirsi alla squadra con il soprannome di Irons, dal nome originale del club.
Mai vincitore del campionato inglese, il West Ham fu un serio contendente al titolo una sola volta, nella stagione 1985-86. Ha trascorso gran parte della propria storia in massima serie (First Division e successivamente Premier League). Tra le vittorie più significative vanta le 3 in FA Cup (nel 1963-1964, nel 1974-1975 e 1979-1980) e una in Coppa delle Coppe (nel 1964-1965, più una finale persa, nel 1975-76). Il West Ham è, insieme a Real Saragozza, Bayer Leverkusen, Parma e Villareal una delle cinque squadre europee ad avere vinto una competizione ufficiale dell'UEFA senza mai essersi aggiudicato il titolo di campione nazionale.
I colori sociali del club sono il bordeaux e l'azzurro.
Il club ha anche una sezione femminile, il West Ham United L.F.C. che compete anch'esso in prima divisione.
Dal 1904 al 2016 lo stadio di casa del West Ham è stato il Boleyn Ground, demolito proprio nel 2016, anno dal quale disputa le partite casalinghe nel London Stadium.

London Stadium (formerly and also known as Olympic Stadium and The Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park) is a multi-purpose outdoor stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in the Stratford district of London. It is located in the Lower Lea Valley, 6 miles (10 km) east of central London. It was originally constructed for the 2012 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Paralympics—serving as the track and field venue, and as the site of their opening and closing ceremonies. Following the Games, the stadium was subsequently renovated as a multi-purpose stadium, with its primary tenant becoming West Ham United F.C.
Land preparation for the stadium began in mid-2007, with the official construction start date on 22 May 2008. The stadium held its first public event in March 2012, serving as the finish line for a celebrity run organised by the National Lottery. Holding 80,000 for the Olympics and the Paralympics, the stadium re-opened in July 2016 with a capacity of 60,000. The decision to make West Ham United the main tenants was controversial, with the initial tenancy process having to be rerun.
The stadium hosted several 2015 Rugby World Cup matches, two England rugby league Test matches, and the 2017 IAAF World Championships in Athletics and 2017 World Para Athletics Championships (the first time both events had been held in the same location in the same year). The stadium can also hold concerts with up to 80,000 spectators, and, due to its oval shape and relocatable seating, was deemed to potentially be suitable for other sporting events such as baseball and cricket.
