Description Available in:
Salford Red Devils are an English professional rugby league club based in Salford, Greater Manchester, England, who currently play in the Super League. Formed in 1873, they have won six Championships and one Challenge Cup. Their home ground is the AJ Bell Stadium in Barton-upon-Irwell, Eccles; the club played at the Willows in Weaste from 1901 until 2011. Prior to the 1895-96 season, the club was known simply as Salford, from 1995-98 as Salford Reds and from 1999-2013 as Salford City Reds.

On a 1934 tour to France, the press described the team as playing like devils, hence their nickname.
