Description
In a big event on ESPN, Efe Ajagba keeps up his comeback against unbeaten substitute Stephen Shaw. Ajagba, a Nigerian living in Houston, is renowned for his size (6 feet 6 inches) and punching force. After being brutally defeated by Frank Sanchez in October 2021, the 28-year-old appeared to have reached his ceiling as a contender. In his lone fight since, a second-round knockout of Jozsef Darmos in August, he bounced back. Oscar Rivas was supposed to fight Ajagba, however, Rivas withdrew due to an eye injury. Shaw, who was supposed to compete on the undercard, agreed to step up on short notice to take on the intimidating young opponent. Shaw was very active last year, engaging in three fights. He recently defeated Rydell Booker in an eight-round unanimous decision in November. He has only ever competed in one scheduled 10-round match, which was more than three years ago. The St. Louis native who turned professional in 2013 is 30 years old, and this is by far his greatest opportunity.
