Mexican boxing champion Saúl Canelo Álvarez is set to defend his Undisputed Super-Middleweight title against John Ryder on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at the Akron Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico. This will be the first time in over 11 years that Canelo will fight in his home country.

Canelo, with a record of 58-2-2 with 39 knockouts, will defend his Undisputed title for the second time. He won the title by beating Caleb Plant in Las Vegas in November 2021 with an 11th round stoppage. Canelo’s last fight in Mexico was over 4,000 days ago when he stopped Kermit Cintron in Mexico City in five rounds to defend his WBO World Light-Middleweight title.
