Description

This Group H decider at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia was a straight shoot-out: top spot and round-of-16 qualification were on the line. Both teams entered with 4 points from 2 matches, but Real Madrid held the slight advantage on goal difference.

Vinícius Jr. opened the scoring in the 40th minute with a sharp finish after a defensive lapse. Just before halftime, he turned provider, backheeling a clever assist to Federico Valverde, who buried Madrid’s second.

Gonzalo García, starting in attack, capped the performance with a well-taken goal late in the second half, sealing top spot in Group H for Madrid.
