The Tissot Sprint at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiânia marked a chaotic and historic return for MotoGP to Brazil after 22 years. The primary challenge for the afternoon was an unexpected 80-minute delay caused by a sinkhole that appeared on the main straight due to heavy rainfall and a burst drainage pipe. The objective for the riders was to maintain focus during the emergency track repairs and adapt to the "green" and unpredictable surface conditions for the 15-lap dash.
Strategically, the Sprint was expected to be a battle between the top-tier Ducati and Aprilia machines. The objective for polesitter Fabio Di Giannantonio was to utilize his superior qualifying pace to break away early, while Marc Márquez aimed to stay within striking distance despite being "napped" by Fabio Quartararo in the opening corners. With track temperatures fluctuating and the asphalt showing signs of deterioration in the final sector, the tactical priority was managing front-end stability over the high-speed ripples of the Goiânia circuit.

Marc Márquez secured a thrilling comeback victory in the inaugural Brazilian Sprint, marking his first win of the 2026 season. The race began with Fabio Di Giannantonio taking the holeshot, but it was Fabio Quartararo who provided the early fireworks, diving past Márquez into Turn 2 to hold second for the opening laps. This allowed "Diggia" to build a gap of 1.4 seconds, appearing comfortable at the front until Márquez finally cleared the Yamaha and began a relentless pursuit.
The race reached its boiling point on lap 13 when Di Giannantonio, under intense pressure, made a critical error by running wide through the technical Turn 12. Márquez immediately capitalised, outdragging the VR46 Ducati on the run to Turn 13 to seize a lead he would not relinquish. Despite a late-lap wobble on the final tour where the asphalt was reportedly peeling off, Márquez held on to win by 0.213 seconds. Jorge Martín rounded out the podium in third, securing his first-ever Sprint rostrum for Aprilia Racing after a steady ride that saw him capitalize on a mistake from his teammate Marco Bezzecchi, who finished fourth.
