Race 6 of the 2026 Supercars Championship takes place on the high-speed, technical Albert Park Circuit as part of the Melbourne SuperSprint. As a primary support category for the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix, the Supercars field faces the unique challenge of a "Formula 1 rubbered" track, which significantly alters grip levels throughout the weekend. Unlike the traditional street circuits on the calendar, Albert Park’s sweeping curves and heavy braking zones into Turns 1 and 3 reward bravery and aerodynamic efficiency.
The championship battle is already intensifying following the season opener in Sydney. Triple Eight’s Broc Feeney and Will Brown enter the weekend as the favorites, but they face stiff competition from a rejuvenated Chaz Mostert and the Ford Mustangs of Cam Waters and Thomas Randle, who have shown blistering pace in qualifying. With a shorter sprint format of just 19 laps, there is zero room for error. The race often becomes a tactical battle of "clean air," where the start and the first-lap skirmishes through the tight chicane at Turns 9 and 10 usually dictate the final podium.

Broc Feeney held his nerve in a chaotic, incident-filled Race 6 to claim his first victory of the Melbourne weekend. Starting from pole, Feeney fended off an early challenge from Aaron Cameron and led the majority of the race, ultimately denying a late-charging Brodie Kostecki by just 0.1 seconds in a photo finish. The win was a vital bounce-back for the Red Bull Ampol Racing driver, who had struggled to match Kostecki's pace in the opening two races of the SuperSprint.
The race was defined by high-stakes drama and multiple interventions from the Safety Car. The first lap saw a major collision between Matthew Payne and James Golding, which left the championship leader with three punctures and an early retirement. Dispair continued for Will Brown, who was hit with a 30-second time penalty—his fourth penalty in six races—following a three-wide incident that sent Cooper Murray into the gravel. Ryan Wood also saw his podium hopes vanish after a 30-second penalty for a clash that took Thomas Randle out of contention. Amidst the penalties and panel-rubbing, Cam Waters managed to navigate the debris to secure the final spot on the podium.
