Description
Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England next to the Northamptonshire villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury. The circuit straddles the Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire border.
On 30 September 2004 British Racing Drivers' Club president Jackie Stewart announced that the British Grand Prix would not be included on the 2005 provisional race calendar and, if it were, would probably not occur at Silverstone. However, on 9 December an agreement was reached with Formula One rights holder Bernie Ecclestone ensuring that the track would host the British Grand Prix until 2009 after which Donington Park would become the new host. However, the Donington Park leaseholders suffered economic problems resulting in the BRDC signing a 17-year deal with Ecclestone to hold the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
Silverstone is built on the site of a World War II Royal Air Force bomber station, RAF Silverstone, which opened in 1943. The airfield's three runways, in classic WWII triangle format, lie within the outline of the present track.
Circuit Biography
Silverstone is one of the most famous racing circuits in the world, and the BTCC utilises the short National Circuit layout to maximise the action for fans, all of whom can enjoy grandstand seating at some of the world’s most famous corners included in their entry ticket price.
Long straights and tight corners make for several overtaking opportunities on every lap, so action is guaranteed throughout the race. Silverstone regularly plays host to some memorable touring car battles as the drivers try to eke out every last second and set themselves up in the strongest possible position going into the unpredictable season finale a few weeks later.

Race 1

Sam Tordoff leads a Motorbase Performance 1-2 finish ahead of Tom Chilton to secure his first British Touring Car Championship race victory of 2018 at Silverstone. Tordoff became a record breaking 15th different driver to win a race this season after leading every lap of the opening race, having started from pole position.
It was Chilton who subsequently slotted into second and began to give chase to his race leading Motorbase team mate, indeed, by lap 17, Chilton managed to latch himself onto the rear of his team mate's Ford Focus RS. However, the pair remained in formation with Tordoff leading Chilton across the line by 0.468s.
Despite falling to fifth early in the race, Collard superbly maintained his composure to claim a remarkable podium result with third on only his seventh race start in the series.
Team BMW's Colin Turkington produced another scintillating charge through the field from 18th to eighth, to extend his BTCC points lead ahead of Tom Ingram.

Race 2

Speedworks Motorsport's Tom Ingram keeps his British Touring Car Championship title hopes alive after winning the second Silverstone race in superb fashion ahead of the Mercedes of Adam Morgan.
The Speedworks Motorsport driver pulled off a series of immaculate manoeuvres, which ultimately saw him snatch the lead away from Motorbase Performance's Sam Tordoff on the 10th lap of the race. Once in the lead, Ingram quickly ran away from Tordoff, who later lost his second position to Mac Tools Racing's Morgan later in the race.
As virtue of his third win of 2018, Ingram has closed the gap to championship leader Colin Turkington to 36-points, after falling 50 behind following the opening race.

Race 3

Laser Tools Racing's Aiden Moffat becomes the 16th different winner of the 2018 British Touring Car Championship season after winning a classic reverse grid encounter at Silverstone. The Mercedes A-Class driver had to overcome severe pressure in order to clinch his first BTCC win of the season, as the championship battle was played out in spectacular fashion behind him, with both title protagonists Tom Ingram and Colin Turkington glued to the rear of his Laser Tools Racing Mercedes. As Ingram and Turkington traded blows in second and third, Moffat ultimately prevailed for the win, but only 0.2s ahead of Ingram in second.
As a result, Turkington will now carry a 34-point lead into the final round at Brands Hatch ahead of Ingram.
