Difference between idEvent and idAPIfootball for NFL games.

I want to link my NFL scheduled games to the api. I see that each game has two identifiers, the idEvent and the idAPIfootball.
As an example, the Buffalo Bills playing the Arizona Cardinals had an idEvent of 2052435, and an idAPIfootball of 13189. Is one better than the other for linking my schedule?
