Carl Baker (assistant manager)

Born: 26th December 1982

Carl joined the Bucks in November 2021 as assistant to manager Paul Carden, his first step into management.

Born in Prescot, Merseyside, Carl started out at Liverpool FC’s academy before joining local side Prescot Cables. Joining Southport in 2003, Carl helped the Port win the Conference North title and promotion in 2004/05 under manager Liam Watson.

He turned full-time with Southport when the club went professional for the 2006/07 season. Despite relegation in that campaign, Carl established himself as a fan favourite, winning numerous Player of the Season awards.

Carl joined Morecambe for an undisclosed club-record fee in July 2007, and after one season signed for Stockport County in a deal rising to £225,000 based on appearances, etc. Establishing himself at County, his displays caught the attention of clubs higher up the EFL and in January 2010 Carl signed for Coventry City in the January transfer window.

Spending four years at City, Carl captained the club between 2012-14, before his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in September 2014. Carl signed for Milton Keynes Dons, helping them to win promotion to the Championship in the 2014/15 season.

Carl moved on to Portsmouth in June 2016, signing for two seasons, but after one year decided to try his luck overseas, signing for the Indian Super League team ATK, based in Kolkata. Injury prevented him from playing any part in their season, and he returned to Coventry in 2018 but again injury stopped him from playing.

Carl joined semi-professional Nuneaton Borough in 2018, moving for a stint at Brackley Town in 2019 before returning to Borough. In the 2021/22 season, Carl played alongside his son Louis in the Boro midfield before leaving the club to join the Bucks.

Hel has represented England C and also toured Japan with Middlesex Wanderers.

Carl is also registered as a player for the Bucks.
