Newsham joined the TOCA package in 2008 with an outing at the final meeting at Brands Hatch in the Renault Clio Cup. Two full seasons followed in Clios in, with the Inverness-based driver winning that championship in 2010 before moving to the BTCC in 2011. The 46-year-old contested the first three rounds in a BMW 320si for Geoff Steel Racing before switching to an STR-run SEAT Leon.
2012 was to bring Newsham his biggest BTCC successes to date, with two wins and four further podiums for Team ES Racing in a Vauxhall Vectra. Consistently a points-scorer in 2013 with Speedworks, Newsham went on to score the first ever podium for Team AmD in 2014.
He begins another new challenge in 2015 with the revamped Power Maxed Racing.
