Josh Ward-Hibbert joined the Leicester Riders in 2016 from the Derby Trailblazers in Division 1 following the start of his degree at Loughborough University. 5 years prior to joining the Riders Josh Ward-Hibbert won the Australian Open boys doubles title which was the highlight of an impressive junior tennis career. During his Tennis career Ward-Hibbert also set the record for the fastest serve by a junior at Wimbledon with a 133mph serve back in 2011.
Josh Ward-Hibbert had a successful junior career representing England at the 201 Division B European Championships where he averaged 18.1 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 steals per game across the tournament. Josh’s impressive campaign led to him being names the Basketball England Under 16s player of the year.
Since arriving in 2016 Josh Ward-Hibbert has played a part in back to back trebles for the club whilst averaging 5.24 points, 3.5 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game in the 2017/18 season. Josh, like the other returning players will be looking to add to his impressive trophy haul in the 2018/19 season whilst also competing in European competition for the first time in his career.
