Andy Thomson will captain the Leicester Riders as the team make the move into European Competition for the first time in over two decades.
The 34 year old forward from Manchester has accumulated 19 trophies in a 7 year career in the BBL, having also played for Newcastle Eagles and Mersey Tigers. Six of those trophies have come in his two seasons with the Riders. The total includes five BBL Championship titles.
Last season he missed 16 Championship games, but still averaged over 11 points and nearly 6 rebounds a game, while shooting 55% from the floor.
Andy Thomson had some big moments for the Riders, including in the decisive last moments in the BBL Trophy Final and a huge game winning basket against the Newcastle Eagle on the road.
The 6 foot 9 inch forward also has experience of European basketball having played in France with La Rochelle and Spain with Gijon and Almeria, this will be useful in the Riders pursuit of European success this season.
