Kerr missed out on qualification for Rio and used that disappointment as motivation to guarantee her spot in the canoe sprint squad this time around.
The Motherwell native achieved her dream in style by winning the women’s K1 200m at the European Olympic qualifiers in Szeged before securing bronze at the World Cup in Hungary, her first senior international medal.
Kerr will travel to Tokyo alongside ‘best friend’ Emily Lewis who was also part of the Team GB Ambition programme.
