Angel City selected goalkeeper Angelina Anderson out of Cal with the 27th overall pick of the 2023 NWSL Draft.
During her freshman year at Cal, Anderson made an immediate impact as one of four players to start all 21 games. Her 85.1% save percentage led the Pac-12 and ranked 22nd in the nation. She made a total of 86 saves, the second most in a single season in school history. She was named Pac-12 Goalkeeper of the Year and Freshman of the Year. As a sophomore during the 2020–21 season (shortened due to the COVID-19 pandemic), Anderson started all 13 matches she appeared in. She finished 2022 in second place on Cal’s all-time shutout list, with 26. Her senior year, she was named to the Academic All-American Third Team.
Anderson also has international experience, having served as the starting goalkeeper and captain for the U-17 United States Women’s National Team at the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay. She was also on the U-20 USWNT roster for the Under-20 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France during the summer of 2018.
