The Rugby Club Hyères Carqueiranne La Crau is a French rugby union club based in Hyères in the Var department and representing the cities of Hyères, Carqueiranne and La Crau. The club plays in the André-Véran stadium in Hyères.
The club disappears after the 2023-2024 season, after being the subject of a judicial liquidation.
History
Beginnings of rugby in Hyères and Carqueiranne
US Carqueiranne was champion of France Honneur in 1972.
The Hyères Rugby Club, for its part, played five seasons in the French elite between 1983 and 1988 and was twice a semi-finalist in the Coupe de France in 1984 and 1986.
Foundation of the club
The Rugby Club Carqueiranne Hyères was founded in 20001 by the merger of the Union Sportive de Carqueiranne and the Rugby Club Hyérois and a rapprochement first with the municipalities of Carqueiranne and Hyères, then in 2003 by that of La Crau2. In 2010, the club was renamed Rugby Club Hyères Carqueiranne La Crau after the refusal of the Racing Club Hyères to participate in a new merger3.
