Description
The Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 is a 301 lap (318.458-mile (512.508 km) annual Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series stock car race held at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire.
In 2018, the race will become the 20th race of the season, replacing the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as the crown jewel race at Indianapolis will become the 26th race of the season.
Unlike other races, the trophy is in the form of an American lobster provided by Makris Lobster and Steak House. After the winning driver poses with the lobster on victory lane, Makris pressure cooks it and sends the meat to the winning pit crew while a taxidermist reassembles the shell and mounts it on a trophy for the driver.
The 2018 Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 is a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race held on July 22, 2018 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. Contested over 301 laps on the 1.058-mile (1.703 km) speedway, it was the 20th race of the 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series season.
On two straight laps late in Sunday’s Foxwoods Resort Casino 301 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Kevin Harvick nudged the No. 18 Toyota of race leader Kyle Busch with his front bumper. Busch retained the lead. But Harvick took more aggressive action on Lap 295 of 301, tagging Busch’s car in the center of Turns 1 and 2. Busch slid up the track as Harvick powered the No. 4 Stewart-Haas Racing Ford into the top spot.
Six laps later, Harvick took a checkered flag for a series-best sixth time this season. He won for the third time at the Magic Mile and the 43rd time in his career, 18th on the career list and one victory behind NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott.
